How Clients Consent to Receive Text Messages

Perdomo Dorsett Immigration Law sends case-related text messages only to clients and prospective clients who have given their consent. Consent is obtained in the following ways:

1. Verbal Consent During Consultation

During an in-person or telephone consultation, our staff ask each client:

Verbal opt-in script
"Would you like to receive text messages from our office about your case — things like appointment reminders, document requests, and case updates? Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out."

A client's phone number is used for text messaging only after the client answers yes.

2. Written Consent in the Engagement Agreement

Clients who retain the Firm sign an engagement (retainer) agreement that contains the following consent provision:

Written consent clause
"Consent to Text Messaging. Client consents to receive text messages from Perdomo Dorsett Immigration Law at the mobile number(s) provided, regarding Client's case, including appointment reminders, document requests, case updates, and billing communications. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Client may withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP to any message or by notifying the Firm in writing. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the Firm's representation."

What Clients Receive

Messages are sent in English or Spanish based on the client's preference.

Opting Out and Getting Help

Clients can reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or reply HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
